Not that there’s anything wrong with that….

Each year right as my allergies begin really flipping me off, I can’t breathe or think straight, every tree and flower is in bloom…I remember, oh yeah, it’s that time of year…the Art’s Festival must be soon.  In Oklahoma City every April the Arts Councils hold their annual Festival of the Arts and it starts this week…

I enjoy seeing all the art, but let’s get real, we all go there for the food. The spread is really impressive. Gopuram’s Taste of India platter is a must get for us. Looking at the list this year…yes, I look it up online so I can plan my eating experience and not get something only to turn around and see another booth and think “oh man, should have gotten that.”…anyway, in addition to the Taste of India, the hot and spicy chicken gyro caught my eye, and the Greek Turkey Meatballs w/ Tzatziki Sauce, and Crispy Chicken & Avocado Cone is a possibility as are the Pickle-Os. And the gelato is my pick for desert. And no, I will not eat everything on that list….I don’t think.

With all that amazing food on hand…why of why my fellow Oklahomans do you pick the Indian Taco!??!?!?

I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s not. I mean…fry bread, beans, meat, cheese, lettuce , salsa…it’s all good. BUT, it is amazingly hard to eat in a festival environment. And it is rather bland if you do not have hot sauce readily available to you to add to it. I just find it odd how popular it is. People look forward to the Art’s Festival and the Fair just so they can get their Indian Taco…and their Strawberries Newport.

Again, nothing wrong with it. Strawberries, pudding, whipped cream, and puff pastry…all good. But people go nuts-o for this stuff. It’s good….but it’s not that good!

Ok fellow Okies….bring on my verbal lashing. I know I’m going to get comments for hating on the Indian Taco and the Strawberries Newport….

I love that you go online & plan your eating ahead of time…you crack me up! :)

I hate to admit it but that Indan taco looks pretty good to me. And I'm not at all surprised that you plan your festival eating ahead of time.

I like to get a little bit of everything so that planning ahead is not necessary. Multiple trips are often required. I do, however avoid any grub at the Arts Festival that is available at the State Fair…I like to compartmentalize my festival eating.

Um, I am one of those people. Sure I know how to make Indian tacos but something about the fry bread being cooked in the same grease as the deep fried snickers, delicious! I had no idea about the food choices being online. I will have to check it out and dig out my fat pants :-)

Too hysterical about the fact that you look up your food ahead of time. And I am definately one of the people that go nuts-o for the Strawberry Newport!
