Everything in here as it should be?…(Listography 1 of 53)

Emily from Notorious MLE and Torrie from A Place to Share have joined me in this Listography project. We all bought the book, created by Lisa Nola…and you can too. It is here at Chronicle Books. And now every Wednesday we will post our list. Over there to the right, on my sidebar, there is a link that will give you all the topics. There will also be a place each week where you can link up and share with everyone your list! So please, join us!!!

And so up first…..

List Your Goals For The New Year.

Blah…I mean…blah. Could this project start with a worse list? Anyway…here goes.

I have 3 main goals for 2011. Aside from the usual goals of eating better, working out, having more patience…you know…aside from those of course.

One: I used to send birthday cards and anniversary cards and all that. When Bonham was born that stopped. I want to start it again.

Two: I want to keep my closets, pantry and cupboards organized. I don’t ever want to feel like I need a major overhaul of those places. If I put on a shirt and hate the way it looks, I want it into the Goodwill pile that day. If I am putting away laundry, I want to put it away. No just putting it in a pile in my closet. Empty boxes in the pantry need to be thrown out immediately. The hardest part of this will be my cupboard that holds my casserole dishes and mixing bowls. That thing goes downhill quickly. My goals is to put the medium bowl in the middle, between the large and small bowls…not balance it on top because I am too lazy to put it away properly.

Three: I want to try and learn to cook new things…specifically I want to try experimenting with alternative grains…quinoa, farro…things like that. I want to try and incorporate them into our weekly meals. Anyone have any recipes for me?

So what do you think? Have you written a goal list? Do you have a post written about it? Then link up! Click on the widget below and link to your post. No blog post? No problem…share your list in the comments.

See you guys next Wednesday…up next, books that made you cry.

I used to send cards as well, and then had kids, and got lazy and started emailing, and then got even lazier and started to use facebook. I would like to start doing cards again, it is so much more personal. I love getting cards in the mail on my birthday, it shows that the person who sent it took the time out of their busy life to buy a card, write in it and mail it, it makes me feel good.
I would like to take that time again as well!

  • Notorious MLE

I love whole grains, especially quinoa because it cooks up so fast and is ridiculously healthy.

  • Kristin

Number 2 is definitely on my list! My closet has been organized for over a week now…That's a record in my house. HA!

  • Valerie

#2 and #3 are on my list too! I experimented with quinoa a bit this year and have grown to love it! Here are a few of my favorite recipes. They're so easy and healthy and great for leftovers too. Hope you had a great Christmas!

DITTO to #2!!! …the bowls, the clothes, the laundry, all of it.

As for #1, I have a wonderful, wonderful book recommendation for you- Food Matters, by Mark Bittman. I got it for Ryan for a V-day present (romantic, aren't I?:)- after we watched the whole season of Spain, on the Road Again… because we were really wanting to change the way we cooked and ate. Seriously life-changing. And I just got him the Food Matters Cookbook, which just came out. Can't wait to start using it- NEEEEEEED.

Love your list, Danielle. Totally do-able. I know you will accomplish these. I have two things on my list this year and I'm feeling quite serious about it.

Learn to meal plan. I know, I know. I've been talking about this one for a while. It's going to happen this year.

Do something creative each week and post about it. I really want to make my creative endeavors a high priority.

    That's all. Happy new year!

  • Amanda (ak)

I love this list! I love the idea of just having an ongoing Goodwill pile in my closet!

  • Katrina

    found you from Em's blog!

yum quinoa, farro. Love the realistic and simple list, good luck!

  • leigh

I have a great farro recipe from a cooking class I took at Jamie's. I'll have to find it and email it to you. It was delicious!

My mom is one of those people who is always there to send a card or a note or make a quick call of encouragement to someone or to bake a cake to cheer someone up. I want to be more like her.

I also need to find my willpower again! I'm sick of yo-yo'ing up and down and up and down with my weight.

I want to be more spontaneous. I want to just call up a friend at the spur of the moment to meet for coffee or a quick lunch. Of course, this all plays into my working-mom balance that I'm constantly working on!

Wandered over via Notorious MLE. I am a list monster. I love making lists. It's the accomplishing part I have trouble with. :)

  • Joyefulart

Can't wait to start formulating my list and look forward to meeting other "listers" :) My husband are vegetarians and try to eat lots of grains to round out our diet. Never heard of farro, what type of grain is that, will have to check it out!!

  • OneTrueKim

I think I should make Goal #1 "keeping up with Listography" and #2 "never miss a blog post from Danielle, Torrie, or Emily" (or perhaps those should be the other way around?)
