The Lego Death Star

Bonham hadn’t seen Star Wars until this weekend. But his love for all things Star Wars started a while back. He had no idea what it was all about, but he wanted in on it. We started buying Lego Star Wars stuff and he was hooked. Then he found this in the Lego catalog.

This thing is $400!!!!!!!! and 3800 pieces. I am not sure which part of that freaks me out more. We said no to buying this. So Bonham started saving. $121. Chore money, holiday money, found coins…it all gets saved. I’m starting to think I need to buy this while I still can and keep it until he is ready. I mean…what if he saves the $400 and it is no longer for sale??!?! That would suck.

And on the Star Wars thing. We had been wanting to wait until he was 6 to show it to him. I know, I know…lots of kids see it earlier but that was our plan. He gets kind of scared by movies and we just didn’t want to risk it. But not seeing it, yet being obsessed with it, he has created all this info on it in his head. Most wrong. Most scarier than the actual movie. So we decided to let him watch it…and it was fine. He liked it, wasn’t scared at all and wants to watch it again. Really, the chase scenes in some of the Disney movies are way scarier than the battle scenes in Star Wars. Huh..so there you go. Glad we ended up letting him watch.

Good for you guys going ahead with it. Hopefully you started w/ episode 4 like God intended? Both my 6yo son and 4yo love it. The clone wars are actually pretty good too – better than the prequel trilogy. That takes some discipline for him to save that much!

Of course we started with 4! It wasn’t even up for discussion. I don’t think I’ve even seen the new ones. I know, I know…what?!

If I can ever convince Jared to part with any of his 100+ Lego sets that are Star Wars, I’ll be emailing you!

3800 pieces and $400??? WOW! And that’s good to know that at his age it didn’t scare him, I’ve been wondering when to let Jack watch it.

It oddly was less scary than a lot of the animated movies. I was surprised at how tame it really is. I guess I’d forgotten.
