Chocolate Mousse

A few weeks ago while in California I was lucky enough to be at Estelle’s house when she made Chocolate Mousse. I couldn’t wait to try it again on my own.

Much like this picture, my success was limited. Ok….I failed. Both at the mousse and the pic. But I still endorse the recipe.

I used 1 bar of milk chocolate and 1 of dark. I think that was ok. Where I think I went wrong was adding peanut butter. My end result was really kind of grainy and had an off texture that Estelle’s version did not have. I am blaming the Peanut Butter.

Another issue was my blender. I have a super charged blender and I think I over blended the mixture. When Estelle made it the mouse was light and fluffy and mousse like within 30 sec. Within 30 sec mine was pretty much a thick liquid that never fully set up.

I will try this again for sure. I know the recipe is a good one and an easy one….next time I need to follow it with no additions, and maybe try my food processor verses my blender.

In the relentless pursuit of social-media perfection, I do love that you posted this even though you felt you got “less-than-perfect” results – makes the less bake-y, less-crafty ones like me out here feel brave enough to attempt. Especially when there is chocolate involved.

I’m going to try it again soon, too! Melanie made it a few weeks ago and it was delicious. I used a blender, right? Now I can’t remember. Maybe a food processor would be good. But it bums me out that the peanut butter didn’t work because in general, I feel that almost any dessert is made better with peanut butter.
