Soft Tees – Part 2

Remember last week when I said I soaked some t-shirts in salt water for 36 hours and have no softening effect? You can read about it if you missed it. Stimulating journalism. I decided to try it again…sort of. This time, I boiled them…well simmered them, in salt water for 30 minutes. Guess what….it worked.

I’m not saying they are 100% soft now…but they are a lot better. Soft enough that now Bonham will wear them. I might try boiling them a second time to see if I can make them even better. I also took some sandpaper….wait, that’s a lie. I didn’t have sandpaper…so I took the micro-plainer from the kitchen, no I don’t recommend this, don’t use fancy kitchen tools for this…anyway….I took mine and did some destruction on the back of a tee with a large graphic on it.  The image has always rubbed Bonham the wrong way so I tried to distress it some. That too was successful. Do I plan to do this daily? No thanks. I will just try and make better, softer purchases, but good to know the stiff shirts can be salvaged.
