I have been trying to use less of things. We use cloth napkins and average about 1 roll of paper towels a month. I saw this post on Pinterest (yes, once again I was suckered in by the evil Pin) which linked to this post on homemade make up remover. I use a waterproof, smug proof liner (Sha Liner from Make Up Br in OKC) so I need a remover at the end of the day. I enlisted the help of the lovely and talented Estelle for the pads and then I mixed up some remover. I followed the recipe linked to above but used the lesser amount of oil that she talks about, and no essential oils for me.
warm 1 cup of distilled water
add 1/8 tsp coconut oil (the warm water will dissolve it)
add 1 1/2 tbs of a no tears baby shampoo
I had a travel size Johnson and Johnson so I used that, but next time I would use the Say Yes to Carrots I use for Bonham. Or BabyGanics. Have you seen this? We just tried it since it is at my Target and the Say Yes to Carrots baby line I have to order online. The foam squirt bottle is fun..I kind of aim it at B and draw a few lines of foam on his chest and then he spreads them around. Ah, bath-time fun – actually lately shower time, seems he is moving into the world of showers.
So….does it work. Yes and no. The coconut oil separates some and solidifies again. I can shake it and break it up and it still works, but next time I’d use a different oil. I wear a pretty stubborn liner to get off….this did take it off, but I had to rub a bit harder/longer than I like to. I feel like all that is pretty rough on my lashes. That said, it took everything else off really easily. I will probably use it most nights unless I really need every ounce of my liner removed in which case I will use something else.
