Mugs

Would you believe me if I told you that I have been searching for new coffee mugs for a year now? No, seriously. Last year I asked my sister for some and I picked out some great ones from Anthropologie. They said they were 12 oz….but in person they seemed sooooooo much smaller. So I sent them back. I have mug issues. I love the wide mouth ones when I am in a coffee shop…like this Bennett Cup from Crate and Barrel…

but not at home. I need more confined structure at home. Something that hold the warmth more and can keep my coffee while I am doing other things, like reminding Bonham that getting dressed means pants and a shirt and yes, socks and shoes too.

I like more of a shape like this Halo Mug.

but not the handle. I need a better grasp than that. And I want pattern. Something different. Something colorful, like these from Anthropologie.

Ok seriously…..why can’t I find new coffee mugs that I like?!?!?!?!? I am pretty sure this, in addition to my lame coffee order from last week (non fat, no whip, 2 pump salted caramel mocha), is proof that I need to take a breath and mellow out. Clearly the fall rush is getting to me. Or maybe I am just OCD, Type A and high strung and I need to embrace “me” for who I am.

like i said in my last comment… the fall rush, and now the winter rush- is hard not to get to you when were inundated with it everywhere we turn! we store our ‘fiesta ware’ mugs that came with our dishes in the garage (for when we have parties/groups over) and use a handful of mugs (starbucks, disneyland,…) for daily use. but i see people drinking their coffee/tea out of really nice mugs all of the time on instagram, and it has definitely made me question my own mugs, and this ‘set-up’. I can see having a really hard time finding new ones, so think we’ll keep it as-is for now! :)

I think embracing you is the right way to go :) Too funny!

I get super particular about things too — for me, it’s spoons. Don’t ask. It bugs me when they’re too big.

i hear you! i always find myself trying to buy mugs straight from a coffee shop. i’m currently obsessed with clear glass large mugs – but can’t find the exact ones….i may have to steal some from the co i am freelancing for. oops – i didn’t just right that.

i can totally relate! i was gifted some cute mugs (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/coffee-mug/s191345) from crate and barrel a few years ago and i will hand wash them if they’re in the dish washer to avoid using my other mugs. i also use my mugs for other foods, like cereal or oatmeal (odd, i know).

have you ever tried the glass ones? i like those for the most part, but don’t actually own them. what about the au lait bowls from anthro? the only down side is that they don’t have a handle. good luck! i know how little things like that can be annoying.

Two people commented with the same mugs. Might be a sign I need to buy them!

This is totally acceptable. I am incredibly picky about the cups that I drink certain beverages from. I don’t make coffee at home a ton, but when I do I have these crate & barrel mugs that say coffee on them, and that’s the only ones I’ll drink from. I hope you are able to find suitable mugs soon!!

Second comment with the same mugs. I think that must mean I need them!

I’m a mug nerd, too. I don’t have a set. I keep souvenir mugs from which to drink coffee and tend to buy them during my travels. I get pretty bent out of shape (on the inside) when someone besides me is drinking from the “important” ones. Especially the one I bought in Krakow. Maybe I should just put away? (PS – Stalk Pier 1, they rotate inventory frequently and something is always new or going on sale.)
