Wise Words

My dear friend Estelle wrote a post today that hit home. She talked about a time when blogging was fun, and about the things that have made many of us recently shy away from blogging – myself included. I realized that my blog images weren’t perfectly lit and sized. I became ultra conscious of my typos and mistakes. I started feeling like anything and everything I posted wasn’t original enough. So I stopped for the most part. In stopping I have lost, or limited, my connection to the wonderful and amazing people who I have met through blogging. I miss them. I miss reading their blogs (many of them have limited their posting as well) and I miss their comments on mine. Thank you Estelle for such a great post today. It is a reminder to me of what this blog is…or should be. I am not in this to make millions (hahahahahah) and I am not in this to be become a published author or any of that. It is just my corner of the world that I share with some friends. While instagram pics and screen shots of what shoes I am coveting might not gain me 1000 readers a day, it will allow me to connect with the friends I have made who live all over the US who visit this space.

Thanks Stella. You once again spoke to me through your post. And let’s not even talk about your amazing trip! Miss seeing you in person as much as I have missed reading your posts.

Please read Estelle’s post….these thoughts were brought on by it.

The Make Up Bar

You guys know I love my Sha Liner from The Make Up Bar in Oklahoma City. It is the best. The best I tell you!!!! Well, for you local peeps, they also are the best place around for an eyebrow/lip wax. Shellie is my girl and I love her. Anyway, MUB hosted a Girl’s Night Out for Engage OKC this past weekend. Alex always rolls out the red carpet for us and we love her for it.

I was treated to some hair help…my straight locks were transformed into curls and Susan got glammed up with some glitter. MUB offers Blow Out and Make Up services for special events, or you know…any old day. I think I should just stop in daily – don’t you?

Thank you again to MUB for hosting us, and for Deep Fork for the yummy drinks and nosh…and thank you most of all to the lovely and talented group of OKC Bloggers. You guys make Susan and I both smile daily.

in with the new…

Last week I read lots of resolutions for 2013.  A few of my favorites that I read…

Wear more sparkly shoes – Kelly at Design Crush

via JCrew

Hydrate // I’m thirsty for knowledge, story, travel and adventure. I also need to drink more water. – Kathleen from Jeremy & Kathleen

Go on a “friend date” with 52 different friends – Marek’s 30 before 30 list (Marek’s Musings)

12 months of giving, one specific task a month – Kristin from Skinny Jeans & a Chai Latte

I already told you guys that I want to celebrate more in 2013. To be more fun at holidays. I think I actually want to be more fun in general. Wear more sparkle, have more lunch dates, celebrate holidays more – be more fun…kind of a general goal or  resolution, but there it is. That and to continue to stretch my comfort zone – do things that make me nervous. Reach out and grow. So that too.

Links for your weekend….

Girls of a Certain Age linked to this great video, a response to a man’s complaint about maxi pad commercials. But the true laugh out loud moment is the other video featured in the article. This one has a beaver in it.

Very cool video of the Space Shuttle in LA. (Thanks Marci!)

Are you in OKC? Want to see the latest streetcar map?

Ha. Sponsorship gone bad.

I just added some of these Hot Dots sets to Bonham’s holiday/bday list. They look like something he would dig.

Great post on my friend Sarah. Her comments about working from home are spot on.

Enjoy your weekend. We have a Halloween party, a bday party, a soccer game, an OU Game and a Thunder game. Holy crap, I am tired all ready.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. After this post all other links seem kind of trivial don’t they? So just one more link – my friend Rachel from Pencil Shavings Studio designed a line for The Limited. I bought the black and white one. Love.

Have a good weekend you guys. This afternoon Bonham and I are making dinner together with one of his girlfriends. RBB and the girl’s parents will come over later for the feast. I have a few things planned that will hopefully get my boy eating new things and more protein…getting enough protein in this kid is a challenge. Other than that, no big plans this weekend. You?
